Historical Perspective

Highlands Christian Grammar School – (HCGS) was established in 2009, by Ray and Trish Bartel, as a school primarily for expatriate children of mission organizations in the area, and those of Christian and commercial families who desired to have an international-level, high quality of Christian education.

HCGS serves a student body of approximately 70 in Pre-school through Year 9. About 10% of the students are “missionary kids” of HCGS members or area mission groups. The remainder of the children are PNG children of HCGS employees, from expatriate and national families employed with businesses in Mt. Hagen.

Highlands Christian Grammar School is registered as a permitted school in Papua New Guinea. The teachers are salaried employees.

The school seeks to glorify God through the school program and relationships between all members of our community. There is an international perspective with a desire to meet the educational needs of the nationalities represented.
